The team
Erik Schmidt
Originally trained as a naval officer and later active in the Naval Reserve, Erik has complemented his naval education with a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration and Executive MBA, as well as certifications in e.g. LEAN and PRINCE2.
After leaving the Navy, Erik has held senior management positions in shipping companies, ports, and offshore enterprises, and has served as CEO of three trading and service companies. His career has focused on the start-up, transformation and development of businesses in Denmark and abroad, overseeing organizational, commercial, and technical projects.
With his strong technical expertise, Erik has been the driving force in the design and development of the Flexible Filtering Environmental Barge and its functional equipment.
Jens Walther
Jens brings over 40 years of experience as a naval officer, complemented by advanced technical studies at an English university.
Throughout his distinguished career in the Royal Danish Navy, he served as Commanding Officer of multiple ship classes, Commander of the Navy’s 1st Squadron, which include the Environmental Protection Division, and later as Commanding Officer of the Danish Naval Home Guard.
In these roles, Jens was instrumental in establishing Denmark’s national maritime environmental contingency at sea. His extensive work with emergency preparedness concepts led to the development of the functional emergency contingency model – the operational and conceptual foundation of the Flexible Filtering Environmental Barges (FEB).
