Filters Oily Water On Site

FLEX-FEB has designed and built the world’s first Flexible Filtering Environmental Protection Barge (FEB-I) – delivering a unique, on-site solution for collecting and filtering oily water directly from the marine environment.

In a single seamless operation, the FEB-I collects surface water contaminated with oil or waste, filters it on board, and returns the cleaned water to the sea. The recovered oil is safely stored in the barge until it can be pumped ashore for proper recycling – maximizing efficiency while minimizing environmental impact.

FLEX-FEB’s innovative Filtering Environmental Protection Barge (FEB-I) enables rapid and effective oil recovery with on-site filtration – reducing waste, maximizing efficiency, and minimizing environmental impact.

Specially designed for coastal and nearshore operations

A key advantage of the Flexible Filtering Environmental Barge (FEB-I) is its ability to maintain a constant shallow draft, regardless of load condition – making it ideal for operations in coastal and nearshore waters.

Unlike conventional environmental vessels, where oil storage tanks are often filled with more than 80% water, the FEB-I’s on-board capacity is utilized almost entirely for oil collection. By deploying multiple FEB-I units in shallow areas, substantial collection and storage capacity can be rapidly established with minimal logistical effort.

When Rapid Emergency Response Is Essential

Four FEB-I units stacked in a transport cradle conform to the dimensions of a standard 20-foot ISO shipping container. This enables storage, transport, and handling anywhere in the world using existing logistics infrastructure – and allows for fast global mobilization when time is critical.

Additionally, a single FEB-I can be stored on and launched from a compact trailer designed for towing by a medium-sized vehicle, providing local flexibility and rapid mobilization.

FEB-I units can be deployed as stand-alone systems directly from shore, from a port, at sea from a larger vessel, or even by helicopter – depending on the specific task and geographic conditions.
